About The Carlton Family
This site is dedicated to my mother, Mary Lucile Carlton, who was a wonderful person
with a dry wit and a quick smile.
She moved out of her family home after her mother died and her father married Mrs.
Brown. She finished high school while living with her Aunt Mabel. She graduated a
year early and went to nursing school.
She never wanted to be a nurse, just a hostess but in the early days of aviation, all
hostesses had to be RNs. She was TWA's Chief Hostess of the Girls' Division of the
Kool-Aid Junior Aviation Corps.
She was a great tennis player, beat my dad every time! She loved gardening, dancing,
cooking and Hawaii. She traveled the world by herself and then with my dad.
I will always miss her. She was the best!
